I Should Be Working On Other Things

Hi.

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to have a solid group of work I can use as a portfolio, including both 2D and 3D stuff. That's all well and good, but I need to actually finish something to make it happen. So I should be working on other things. I just drew some sketches today and thought I'd share with you. I may have to start a rule for myself where I can't post UNLESS I also have a finished piece to show. I hope it doesn't come to that! But that's actually a good rule. Maybe that's how it's gonna be? It's not like I shouldn't be finishing something every week. URGH.
Okay, I need to go draw/paint now.

Up first is some stuff for my head rendering class. I was glad they actually looked Asian. Success.

Next I have some jumping guys.

(This next one has some tangents but I was too lazy to fix it in Photoshop. I mean, just look at where his hand hits his foot! Jeepers)

Then I have some floating people.

Harry Potter fan art? I never thought I'd see the day! SHEESH. A Voldemort!

Then the rest of the stuff. Whatever.

TL;DR: Summer Goals Recap Week the Twelfth (12th)

I may have failed completely again this week. I didn't do any research from the books I had set aside as part of my Summer goals, I didn't do any 3D and I didn't do any writing.

But this week didn't feel like a failure because I did something I really loved (click HERE to see, for those of you who didn't have a chance to see).

Hopefully there will be more of that.
Here's what I'm currently painting:

Here's what I want to paint this week:

Guy with obnoxious hair and face:

Legolas fan art ( I was sitting next to my fiance in church and she was like, "Is that Legolas?" so I tried it out and it worked):

Some guy who needs to have a body drawn:

ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE!

I was in art history today (by the way, I finished the paper!) and my teacher used "ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE!" to describe everything. She said it over and over again. So it jumped into a picture on accident... I need to do tutorials or something because I feel like I'm producing really repetetive stuff. Mix it up! I know I say that all the time... But it's close to finals week, so I can't behave myself. Whatevah.
Yeah, I just looked and I'm ending up with so many similar shapes/themes. Hmm. It's disturbing

EDIT: I removed an image so it could go sit on Pinterest instead. That way I won't have to look at this post and be haunted by the repetition

Perspective and fan art. LOL!

First up I got a sand worm from ARRAKIS! Joking, but not really. Then there's like a door to the dungeon. Reminds me of the entrance to The Depths in Dark Souls. Again, I'm doing tons more perspective noodling but I'm scared to upload... It's hard for me to get.
Next up we got a team of guys, just preparing to mess some bad guys up.
Next it's some Hayao Miyazaki fan art with No Face. Ha! And a guy wearing a snapping turtle helmet. Turtles have shells, so their defensive value is high. So make equipment look like turtles. No Face doesn't give out gold nuggets in my fan art, he just gives out bombs and entire gold bars. So yeah, that would be nice. Can I also say how hard it is for me not to draw bullet casings pouring out of that gun? Any time I draw a gun, I feel obligated to have shells flying everywhere. Even if the character is reloading, shooting a revolver or not shooting at all. I read Kohta Hirano's Hellsing in high school and combined with Yasuhiro Nightow's Trigun (my favorite comic ever, if I haven't mentioned that here) I was a bullet happy little boy. Lastly, if you read the word "Trigun" and thought, "Yeah, I love that anime!" do yourself a favor and read Trigun and Trigun Maximum. The anime cannot even begin to hold a candle to the comic. Seriously. Anime is wicked boring. Comic talks about wave phasing, deep space travel and other cool sci-fi garbage.

It's National Batman Fan Day!

...Which is totally a lie, sorry.

Will people find my blog if it says "Batman" more times? I like Batman. I'm not much of a fan of the American super hero. I do like Batman, though. I like how his unstable mental condition provides a platform through which we can explore the humanity of a super hero and thus relate to him- We're human too! (I guess it's quite an assumption to say that... Forgive me, non-human readers!). I guess he doesn't have superpowers, but I don't really care. I don't care if he's rich or smart or clever or whatever. I do care that he's a total maniac. Batman is cool. Otherwise I'm more into graphic novels and storytelling and other garbage. I'm rambling now... This blurb was supposed to be full of the word "Batman", but I guess I got distracted... Oh, I also like Commissioner Gordon. He's flawed, too. I like all these messed up characters. Batman.

Lightsaber belt.

Erica, I gave you four (4) lightsabers per hand. I thought it was appropriate.
Where 1 lightsaber is good, eight is fantastic. More = Better.

Today is Batman Fan Art Day

...In my mind!

OBSERVE!

His pose is wretched here. This is the price I pay for doing everything out of my head without reference!

Also, if you shorten "Fan Art" into a bizarre pseudo-contraction it becomes "Fart"!

2 Dahrk Nytes!

I spelled it that way so I wouldn't get sued. It's not like I'm trying to make money, right? Well yeah, I don't own Batman but think he's cool and he frequently makes guest appearances in my work.

And this last one... I was sitting in a warm, sunny hallway and was trying not to fall asleep. The result is the bizarre Batman image.

Oh, and one more thing - A blog visual update is incoming. I had this dream last night that I was redesigning my blog to "Look like skeletons". In dream logic it made perfect sense. I'm going to try to do the same in reality. Be ready!
