Working in Progress

So those thumbnails from yesterday!? I've just been sitting here bumming around with 'em for a few hours. It's been miserable and there were lots of bad ones that I won't post because it's no bueno
I don't know if I've posted this song here before but I like it and have been listening to the album while I work.
My goal is to open it back up and work on it more. Try to finish it another day.

Unnecessary roughness, Jake Parkour. Parker.

Today Jake Parker came to my class to lecture. I'd never met him before, but I've seen his stuff. He's a really cool guy. When I think about what it must be like to be an artist I think I was imagining Jake Parker. Thanks to Will for bringing him in to class. He gave me a bookmark. His lecture was awesome. I attached the notes I took to the bottom of the post for you to peruse. But first, what I drew during class:

I'd really like to go back with this idea and... Well, you know,
Finish it. Do a finished composition and color it so it looks like it's properly lit and doesn't look like monkey vomit.

I censored this one because it seemed needlessly graphic today.

These guys are so cool! That's what they're thinking.

These are the notes I took on Jake's lecture. Since he told us all sorts of new secrets I blocked most of it out because it sounded like he was about to publish it to the internet. I won't reveal too much of it here... You'll just have to follow him on tumblr and youtube and stuff to see. I think you'll agree, it's awesome advice.

I'm going to bed. It's too late and I have a long day tomorrow.

I Went for a Walk

It's cold today. I had been sitting on the couch taking care of business (watching FLCL again!) this morning and I looked outside and it was my favorite weather: Grey Puke. There's water all over the ground and the clouds are low to the base of the mountains. It's grey and miserable and I love it. Anyway, I grabbed my sketchbook and a jacket and wandered down the street. When I found things I liked I stopped and spent a few minutes. I stopped by the library and downtown. There's a couple other things I need to do, but I promised myself I would just do the one page. That will have to wait until next time. It was nice to get outside. Ha!

Dungeon delving and a confession

A guy going into the cave to get the trayshure.
And other sketchbook stuff from today:

In this first one, I was trying to get the hands right for the guy at the top who was supposed to be holding a sword. In the process it inadvertently became JoJo-esque, with after images in an arc shape. I DID NOT DRAW THE BLACK AND WHITE IMAGE, I just placed it there so you could see what JoJo stuff I was talking about! Also, my sister was talking to me about tardigrades. She showed me a picture and I sketched one out. I thought it looked like a squatting dog and so I drew that too. Also a nude man.

Some perspective stuff and then working on the human head. I've been trying to figure this stuff out with the aid of some Gnomon tutorials.

So yeah, confession time: I didn't draw at all yesterday. I have been a little lazy as far as posting goes this month, and yesterday I wasn't feeling great... Art has been slow and it has felt like I haven't been learning anything. I hope that growth is taking place but it's tough to see. But all that kind of came crashing down on my face and I just felt kind of poopy. I played video games for an hour or so and did some reading and was just kind of lazy in general. I'll try to do better.
But now I have to go fold laundry and get ready for bed.

Bus 7/9/13

Just enough time to post what I drew on the bus today.
I know, someday I'll finish something. But today I work all day. Gotta pay for school :(
