Hi! To %))!!!

Hey! Sorry for my absence. You were aware, though, so don't act like I didn't tell you.

Kaitlin and I got married and we've been freakin'. Starting a household is hard work! We still need lots of little things (kitchen things, mostly) to have stuff go smoothly. We will survive, though.

Outside of a couple hours of homework on my honeymoon, I didn't draw at all that week. BUT! This week has been my first commuting down to UVU from Salt Lake City (Where we live now) and I've done some cool sketches with the large blocks of travel time. I'm excited for when things slow down so I pump some serious time into portfolio pieces. I'm at my parent's house right now using their internet and picking up my router so I can activate our internet when I get back up to SLC. Expect a number of posts this month. I don't remember where I said that I wanted to hit 500 posts by the end of the year, but it's still a thing for me and I'd really like to do that. 

...I just opened my box from Amazon to ensure it was the right router. It turns out that it wasn't a router at all, but a wedding gift from a friend. It will certainly aid us in making delicious meals, but it won't let me pay my bills online or update my blog. That seriously changes my plans for the next three days.

Okay. Back to freakin'!!

I left myself a note to mention She Who Mars the Skin of Gods. Protest the Hero is my favorite band, and since my mp3 player died a few weeks back I've been using an old iPod I had lying around. I've been at the mercy of my musical tastes from years ago, and thankfully there's some Protest on there to lessen the hurt. I really love this song, especially THIS PART to about 2:18.

This next one is me pushing comfort zones. It's a view of Salt Lake City from the North Temple Frontrunner stop.

EDIT: I'm not satisfied with this, looking at it again... I need to tweak some things. But this will do for now.

Planning on adding a background to this when I get home from work tonight... My lack of environment/background is kind of an issue, I'd wager.

These were from my sketchbook today, I might try taking these further if I get some time. I have a bunch of stuff to try to finish before Fall semester starts again (Sharkman, Wizzard, Dome-i-cile, and one where I'm placing the Wizzard in an environment [that you haven't seen yet! Nyah, nyah nyah nyah!{There's no need to be such a clown, don't taunt our audience! - Ed.}]) and I don't want to overwhelm my feeble mind.

Almost Failure: Summer Goals Recap Week the Fourteenth (14th)

I almost failed this week, but I did some story-related stuff for this guy:

I want this to be amazing. I'm going to keep working this one, and the story behind it (which, come to think of it, has been on my mind for a few years).

This next guy has a big cleaver with an eagle head. An Eagle Cleaver. Pun on this.

This guy has a lighter in his shoulder. He uses it as a light source when dungeon delving, lighting molotov cocktails and long walks on the beach

Yesterday was the 4th of July, so I didn't get a lot done. I did do some sketching... Sort of. Maybe I'll upload it later. But I have to go to work now...

I've been fooling around with compositions for a while, I need to take one of them and push it further. So that's what I'm gonna do next week. Um. It's kind of cool to have two subjects. Here I have a tower and some dude walking towards it:

This was the first picture I did today, and I think I'm most pleased with it. It's like another view of that thing I posted yesterday.

I did this next. I'm having issues keeping everything detailed consistently. That big guy on the left has too much going on, I need to tighten up the bridge. I guess this was more an exercise in preparing for a finished composition than anything else, but I don't like how some things look.

This is what i have so far on this week's prompt for class, "Mask." I was going to work on it today but I worked on other things instead. I have to finish this!

My eyes!

I've been staring at my computer for awhile and my eyeballs hurt. I decided to start pushing myself on working toward more finished products. To get all achievements in Dark Souls 2 you need all the spells, and you can't get one of them without being 2nd tier in the Bell Keeper covenant. That means you have to kill at least thirty other players when they set foot into the belfries, and THERE IS NO TIME TO WASTE ON NONSENSE LIKE THAT. So I kept my game idling while I drew. Every so often someone would invade a belfry, I'd be transported there to butcher them, and then come back. In between invasions I was doing thumbs. After a while I got bored and scanned everything in to Photoshop and colored stuff. I have a few more I want to develop, but ere's what I got so far:

Another Chaotic Week: Summer Goals Recap Week the Third (3rd)

Afternoon.

This was a good week for me goal-wise. I read more of Steven King's book on writing and wrote a bunch of stuff about an Idea (with a capital I) that I've had in my brain for years. Wrote some plot, history, lore, all that good stuff. 

I also did some watercolor stuff this week, although I wasn't quite happy with the result. Argh.

Anyway, always room for improvement.

Today, my sister said, "You should draw Odin." So here you go. He has a long coat on, it looks like. You can also see the lines where I was trying to figure out how his hat works.

But once I lose the lines everything falls apart. That's just showing there's holes in my understanding of everything. Just look! I was using a tumblr for some architecture. My sketches were dynamite and legible. But... I threw some paint onto it and want to throw up. Ha! Maybe  just have no experience with watercolor!? Yeah, I think that's what it is. Whatevah. Maybe I'll avoid the watercolor for a while. I'm redownloading Maya, maybe with the new digital painting skills I have I could throw a texture over a mesh and create something reeeel simple n cool.

Weakness, Human Frailty: Summer Goals Recap Week the First (1st)

I failed on one of my summer goals this week. I haven't really done anything to work on telling a story in pictures. But I've done a lot of stuff from Drawing Marvel blah. And I made my mother a Mother's Day Card and used watercolor to add some phresh to it but alas, I cannot show you all: I sealed the card in the envelope, and my mother has gone a-camping this weekend and won't return until tomorrow afternoon. So I can't show you that until she opens it upon her arrival. But here's some stuff I did the other day that I failed to post. I'll have more tonight. I checked out this cool book from the library that has a zillion poses from a zillion angles so I can practice the dreaded perspective-based skill of the foreshorten and work on building bodies. It's nice

This is a stairwell I drew that I'm going to paint.

I knew instantly where I wanted to go take my reference photo when teacher gave us the assignment (I WILL TAKE YOU TO GOOGLE MAPS!). 

I love architecture, specifically stairwells. The claustrophobia and verticality present are just to die for! 

I'll post again when I finish it.

I'm working on other homework and stuff. I'm doing a Hansel and Gretel for Will's class. It's going to be disturbing, to say the least
