Finished a Sketchbook, Sketchdump

This was the sketchbook I started before last semester. Once classes began, I set it aside to work on the four other sketchbooks that school required. Ha. But I finished it, here are some of the drawrings.

The top one the guy has a cable attached to the back of his head, and his torso is uncomfortably long. There are some guys with fancy hats.

Next, we have a guy shooting a gun, a guy with a short sword, an elven guy (his ear, obviously) and an alien.

Then there's an arm holding an energy pistol, a guy riding a weird robot horse (Hmm, I need to go back and finish that) and a guy entering numbers or something on his wrist (also finish?)

Then we have a couple guys. Just doing their thing.

There's a naked man on the left and... Something bizarre on the right.

Some buys with weird hair. And the eyebrow guy.

Shooting.

Final retro poster. People really seemed to like that cute one I posted last time. We'll have to go find out where the file was when it was in that state so y'all can have yer shirts.

I was excited...

But once I lose the lines everything falls apart. That's just showing there's holes in my understanding of everything. Just look! I was using a tumblr for some architecture. My sketches were dynamite and legible. But... I threw some paint onto it and want to throw up. Ha! Maybe  just have no experience with watercolor!? Yeah, I think that's what it is. Whatevah. Maybe I'll avoid the watercolor for a while. I'm redownloading Maya, maybe with the new digital painting skills I have I could throw a texture over a mesh and create something reeeel simple n cool.

Some stuff I drew today. I'm proud of the guy in the lower left corner of this next one. He has potential.

Progress on my "Retro" themed image. That monster is presshussh. Yesterday's image here.

Another Day, Another

Theme for this week's homework assignment is "Retro," thought since Godzilla just came out I'd do a vintage Kaiju-esque movie poster. Except have the monster be really stupid or cute.

Thought I'd add some color...

A Week of Mayhem: Summer Goals Recap Week the Second (2nd)

Welllllllllllll... This week was a bit of a failure. I, uh. Well, I didn't read any of the books discussed in my Summer Goals post. I didn't paint with watercolor this week. But I'm reading Steve's book on writing and it's inspiring me to write down some of the things that have been floating around in my head for years and develop the ideas. So that's my work on writing this week. It's weak, but I'll do better this week. SEE YA

That middle guy's leg, I'm fond of it!

369th Post.

My favorite number is three, and multiples of three. So 369 is a nice number. It's divisible by three a couple times.

Anyway, here's some garbage

This is what I turned in for the motorcycle guy. Turns out flesh tones are hard. I lengthened his coat and fixed his boot, angling it out towards the viewer. I also added some detail in the foreground.

Then, Painter X3 crashed on me.

I tried my best to do it over, and fortunately I didn't lose everything, but I was angry and that made it harder to redo all the stuff I had to. I don't understand how after thirteen editions of a program they can't seem to improve the stability.

Still working on the motorcycle guy...

I've added his face but it's not done enough to post yet. UPDATE (11:08 AM): And here's what I've done so far:

Here's some other stuff I did today

The central guy in this one looks like the central guy in this one. Subconsciousness at work!?!!?

I have to go to work

I need money so I picked up a shift at work, I gotta go but here's what I have for you.

MOtorcycle update:
We're getting there, I need to spend some time on his face. Here's what I had yesterday as comparison.

School!, ProgresssSSLURPEES

SKETCHES FROM TODAY

I drew the next one yesterday, but I was too cranky to post it. Because my motorcycle wasn't going well, yeah?

I hid this down here. Did you see it!? This is my progress on the motorcycle for my first assignment. And it's not "Journey", it's "Voyage", apparently. I got a buncha help from Don today, and I think maybe I'm starting to get it? I think the trick is to work big to small and take forever on the biggest brush you can. It's all about taking tons of time on it. Just put some headphones in and don't focus on details, just work the big shapes for a while.

BONUS: Watercolor from Last Week

I'm working on an assignment for my digital painting class right now and it's going really badly, so I'm taking a break. I can't get my brain to make a transition and do what it needs to do. Also, Corel Painter has crashed 4 times, which is adding to my displeasure. I don't know why I can't paint this! I mean, here and
here I threw down some color with no issue, why can't I remember what I did? I feel like I've lost intelligence since then or something.

First Day of School

Back to school, super excited! I was really bummed about not having enough time for art outside of class but I think I'll be okay and have lots n lots. I hope so, anyway.

First assignment's theme is "Journey." Here's my thought process in thumbs. In the end I did something entirely different. Ha.

Practicing my perspective and that cursed foreshorten.

Weakness, Human Frailty: Summer Goals Recap Week the First (1st)

I failed on one of my summer goals this week. I haven't really done anything to work on telling a story in pictures. But I've done a lot of stuff from Drawing Marvel blah. And I made my mother a Mother's Day Card and used watercolor to add some phresh to it but alas, I cannot show you all: I sealed the card in the envelope, and my mother has gone a-camping this weekend and won't return until tomorrow afternoon. So I can't show you that until she opens it upon her arrival. But here's some stuff I did the other day that I failed to post. I'll have more tonight. I checked out this cool book from the library that has a zillion poses from a zillion angles so I can practice the dreaded perspective-based skill of the foreshorten and work on building bodies. It's nice

Sorry for lack of posts. I've drawn the last couple days, I haven't today. It's all gruntwork. Here's some stuff of the seemingly endless garbage I've been working on. Now to go draw some stuff. BYE
