I finished my sketchbook last night.

That's pretty quick for me, isn't it? Let me go grab it and see when I started it... July 2nd? That's almost a month! That means I've been drawring a lot. That's good! Also Thomas did some hilarious re-imaginings of earlier stuff posted on this blog. Look over here!

Whatever, it's just whatever, get out

Today I drew a million trillion legs from the front and back. I printed out some reference this morning so I'd have something to look at while I spent 3 hours in my biology class. I got to school and took some biology quizzes (seven outta ten and nine outta ten, respectively) and then printed the outline for class so I'd be ready. I had about a half hour before class started so I opened my bag to find my reference so I could get started on the legs. It wasn't there. I freakin' left it at home. I didn't want to type anything into Google for fear I'd get something nsfw and the librarian would push me down the stairs from the top floor of the building. But I decided I really wanted reference so I went and found something anyway and didn't get anything filthy in my web search. But I was basically out of time so I went to class. I sat down and pulled out my notebook and outline and then opened my sketchbook. I found the piece of reference I just printed out. Also the one from this morning that I thought I didn't have. Argh. I should have known I was so efficient and would have put my reference in there. 

I also bumped into Thomas today and told him I'd put a character in a background. I'm sorry, Thomas. I lied. But I did try and it looked ridiculous. 

Here's a thing I'm working on (And looking at it now I didn't really apply anything I learned about legs today to this):

I'm kinda cranky about it because sometimes I know how to paint digitally. Other times it just doesn't work. Today was one of those days. Tomorrow will be better. I just hope I don't have nightmares about leg muscles because I spent about 4 or 5 hours drawing legs today. Hahaha!

This week, I plan on [doing your Summer Goals? - Ed.] taking some of these a little further towards completion. This first one is notable because it has two characters interacting without removing parts of each other's bodies with firearms/blades/fists/weapons, &c. I suppose they're doing something equally illegal, but no blood has yet been spilt, which is practically unheard of around here.

So I didn't really do any Summer Goals this week, either. But I want to do some 3D this week and write down some story stuff. And I really want to put a character into an environment, too.

Here's some stuff I worked on this week.

It's important to study anatomy, I think. His arm is weird. I guess I could use reference, too.

Did some work on the shark, but not a lot. Thought I'd throw it up here for your playsure.

This is an old sketch I'm re-tooling into something more. Frequently I won't give characters enough neck, so I'm having trouble deciding if I want to fix it or whatever. It's kind of a mess right now. But you may look.

And sorry, Thomas, I still have no "Armor" tag. I guess I could go do that now, hold on...

Okay, there. "Armoire," just as we discussed. But we know what it means.

I've been slacking off on my anatomy practice and other grunt work and feel kinda stiff. I want to work on the sharkman but I think I'd ruin it right now. Ughhhh

TL;DR: Summer Goals Recap Week the Twelfth (12th)

I may have failed completely again this week. I didn't do any research from the books I had set aside as part of my Summer goals, I didn't do any 3D and I didn't do any writing.

But this week didn't feel like a failure because I did something I really loved (click HERE to see, for those of you who didn't have a chance to see). 

Hopefully there will be more of that.

I'm Calling This My First Portfolio Piece

For the first time in my life, I really love how something I drew turned out. I feel happy and accomplished when I look at it. I submitted it to IlluXCon, maybe they'll like it too? I should have some more stuff for you to see tonight.

That title up top? That's the last few minutes of Vomitself, which I've posted a link to before (maybe?) but am posting a link to again just so you, future reader, may have the unfortunate opportunity to try taking my current mental state upon thyself for a moment. So, to continue your transformation into me, consider this: Your eyes are blurry, you have a headache, your ear holes are uncomfortable because your headphones have been pushing at them for too long, and you're hungry. And BRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmm, Vomitself just drones relentlessly down my ear canal and lazily caresses my eardrum as I sit here wide-eyed and slack-jawed, spittle pooling at the corners of my mouth as I drag my hand around, not entirely sure if I'm actually making progress at what I'm working on because my vision is blurry around the edges and there's an uncomfortable pulsing in my eyesockets. But I do need to eat. Here's a teaser of what I've spent the last hour and a half noodling on, 

And something from yesterday I apparently forgot to post. If I actually did remember to post this and you've seen it before, TOO BAD! I don't really care, just don't look at it. But do look at how the guy on the left and the guy on the right have almost the exact same posed right hand and left hand (truly, it's their entire upper torso). That right there shows that I have bad habits that need to be broken. I'm grinning like an idiot sitting here staring at how generic my people are becoming. Always room to improve, it would seem.
