Inktober: Day -1

It's not even October yet, but I wanted to get in on this Inktober business for realz! JK, due to the new rules of this blog where I don't necessarily post every day, I won't be participating this year. You can bet that I'll be doing ink drawings as part of my standard training regimen, but I just won't be sharing them with all of you. Besides, I participated last year (Not really - Ed.)
So here you go!

Heh. His left hand (the one holding the firearm? [And not practicing the gun safety you were flaunting a couple posts back? - Ed.)) is all wonky cuz I inked it on the bus. I was really excited about this sketch, you see, and couldn't wait for a more suitable drawing environment, so it's all messed up.

Gallery of Terror, continued

Update on this. Still not sure if it's done, it's confusing with color, maybe I'll try to fix it. It's also showing up too dark here. Argh.

Robot!

Here is something I drew today, practicing art.

Original sketch:

We talked a whole bunch in class about using reference. Starting from today I'm gonna! It's just a pain, y'know? Like I'm all sitting in Art History, I can't focus on teacher, notes, doodles and reference. If I do reference, I'll tune out teacher. Argh. Decisions, decisions. I was also supposed to work on the alien space marine thing for Gallery of Terror tonight. Whoops! I guess I'll do it later. I was just really excited about this sketch.

I also finally broke down and bought a replacement water bottle today, I'm dying of dehydration. Kaitlin told me that as soon as I put it in the Amazon shopping cart I'd find the old one. We'll seeeeee!!!

Here's a thing I drew today.

I May Go Blind: The Strain is Immense

My lady told me I'll go blind if I stare into the digital realms whilst my environs are darkened. I told her (or tried to, I'm looking at the text now and it was pretty cryptic) that I had to have the light off because the ceiling fan lights were way too bright and would throw light rays into my eyeballs and prevent me from working. Oh shoot, speaking of working, I was going to draw some bones for my anatomy and figure structure class. Blazes! Oh yeah! And I was going to work on the 3D thing I've been modeling. Blast! Oh my, I was also going to study art history and work on my flash homework! Blimey! Welllllll, I think this was more effective.
Have a look at what I got so far:

I used an M1 Garand as reference (Please tell me how to pronounce "Garand?"), I think it's just such a classy looking weapon. Notice the gun safety in practice here? That finger is off the trigger because he doesn't want to blow anything important to smithereens while he stands around and poses! I'm also a little embarrassed (by the way, "Embarrassed" has two "R"s and two "Ssss okay whatever punctuating/spelling that was a joke. It has two Arrs and two Esses, just a heads up) by the way that the drapery turned out... Those creases? Argh! I'll need to work out the kinks there.

And, as always, he's floating in space. Somebody draw that dude a background. Oh, you mean me? We'll see. Below is the original sketch. I scrapped the pose because it was frighteningly close to a sketch by a favorite artist of mine (Yeah, can't find a link to the sketch, but I have a link of the artist doing the sketch). I didn't have it in front of me but I came home and saw it and was like, "No, I'm no plagiarist!" And so the M1.

I'm still alive: A work in progress, some doodles

I have to pack up and get going, but I just wanted to show you what I was working on for UVU's annual October art show, Gallery of Terror:

Here are some doodles I was tinkering with.

It's been really busy and crazy trying to schedule time to do art while school is going on. I have an anatomy and figure structure class which is adding to this stuff but everything else is very time consuming. I spent a couple hours yesterday working on 3D, but school as a whole is getting in the way of my artwork.

I might have another update this week. We'll see.

Hey, just a quick thing

I'm busy doing my best to work hard. Trying something different... Pencil and whatever.
Oh, I should have uploaded some of my figure drawrings! I blew it.
You can look at these if you want, some of my sketches from the last couple days.  I started rendering them and stuff but my eyes hurt and I'm going to bed. I'll finish these laters.

P.S. You'll be happy to hear that my sketchbook is a cornucopia of disgusting failure. It's marvelous. Mmmyes, marvelous. Simply marvelous
