It's Halloween! You win!

Congratulations, your prize is a head, floating in brine!

Where have I bean, you ask? I've been taking a break from my normal relentless sketchbook fillin' to do some homework. BONES! Just in time for Halloween! It is really too spooky for me, though... I didn't think you'd care to see but I uploaded anyway. Until this semester is over I'll be doing busy bee homework like this, please still love me and visit my blog! :(

Here's some other stupid stuff I had lying around. Do with it what you will.

Good Morning!

Just kidding, it's 4:10 on a Saturday. I want to render some of these further, but it's kind of scary, so I'm going to wait til I have more time. I don't now, cuz my fiance and I are going to a barbecue. I'm super excited to see her!!!

I guess I should just post when it's done? I don't know, it will never be finished.
Hmm, I think I'm avoiding it cuz it's hard. I really like how these sketches turned out and I don't want to ruin it with a bad rendering/painting over the top.
Fear.
Hmmm.
I'm gonna keep working this and see what I can do.

...

But still look at them right now:

Some warrior guys.

An alien with a big alien laser rifle. You will be proud to hear I used some reference for the scope.

A disgusting mutant. This is the sort of thing you blow into gibs in Quake.

So this week I was sitting on the ground while I waited for the bus... And I drew what was there. Kinda reminded me of Ryan Ottley's POV stuff. I looked up and saw the bus and almost fell over cuz my leg had fallen asleep.

Some random tough guys

Assassin!

I wasn't supposed to post until I fully rendered everything, but I want you to know I'm alive and there are more things I want to work on now (seriously, I loved some of this stuff but am waaaaaaayyyyyyy more excited about other things I have to show youuuu). So here's what I got right now. I have to go to bed, tomorrow is a running day.
Someday I'd like to flesh out some of these ideas into finished compositions so I can have a portfolio but it's time for sleep.

I don't know why I spelled "Assassin" like that.

I was really excited about this one, I may have to come back to it. But my "To finish" list gets too long...

This next one I actually rendered out quite a bit. But it looked like butt. I gave up and here you go. Those suit guys were draw different days. Their bodies are like exactly the same. I'm Mr. Generic Suit Man.

Kind of a hit-or-miss grab bag. I like how some of this stuff looks. I hate how other things look. But it was an exercise. MOVING ONNNNNNNNNNNNN

9/18 - 10/18: One Month Sketchbook!

I did it! The sketchbook I started on the 18th of September? I finished it today! I know you all didn't get to see as much as normal over the course of the last one, but trust me. It was for the best! I got a lot done, made many (good) mistakes. I feel like I grew so much during the last month. I just need to do paintings and 3D. Oh, and homework. Whoops! I think part of the reason I got sick this last week was from stress. I was so focused on my own artistic pursuits that I was neglecting important [?] school assignments. So everything kinda happened this last week and I couldn't take it and my body just decided we were done.
I'm feeling more gooder today, but I'm not quite back to 100%. Anyway, here's some stuff from the last few pages. I'll also make my typical comment that I'd like to go back through and finish some of these, blah blah blah.

EDIT: How many times did I say "Last" on this post? Redundancy? Where is my editor? Anyway, I'm not changing it... Enjoy

Not sure what's going on with the guy on the right's torso, but I like his left arm (HIS left!).

2 Days in a Row!?

It's true.

Still feeling kind of sick. It's silly to me that these last two days I've been sick I've gotten more done than had I been in class. School's great, it just gets in the way of my education sometimes.

I have to go do some other homework, so I'll just leave these here...

Was just tinkering with this thing from yesterday:

Mushroom Jazz: Maladies, Misery!

Today has been a bit of a bummer.
Yesterday, I started to feel a little bit ill. By the end of my last class I was just weak and uncomfortable. Today, I woke up at 6, and I slept well, and I wasn't sure if I was going to skip my run, but I figured I'd wear my sweatshirt so I wouldn't catch another cold to stack on top of whatever I had (Does it work that way? - Ed.), and my run wasn't too bad.
I went to work and started feeling feverish. I finished my shift and went home to prepare for class.
I realized that I should probably bail so nobody else got sick and I've just been working on art ever since. I tried doing some painting earlier but it was just stiff and worthless. It was surprisingly warm outside, so I let the chickens out and sat in the grass and drew a little mushroom family living there, dripping snot into the yard.
Let me show you what the mushrooms taught me. I might try to take some of these to a more finished state.

A warrior from the North! He has a neck ruff thing to keep his giraffe neck warm and there are mushrooms down in the corner.

Here's some other stuff from the week that I've had laying around.

Pumpkins

Since it's Halloween soon, I thought I'd post a picture of some orange pumpkins.

I drew these today just for you!

Red? Ask Me When I'm Not Asleep

Oh me, oh my.
It's gonna be a busy week. I have some homework to do, and it's kind of getting jammed into the little corners so I can try other things. Things like this:

Original Sketch:

MOM! I know you're peeved about his feet, cuz they're all little and tiny, but I was thinking he's like a crab guy, y'know? He has red armor and crab feet. So that's how I justify away the need to draw detailed feet. I feel like I lost some visual interest in the leg area from the sketch to the final (is it done? I have too much to do!), but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

A little update on the guy from last time, I think I might call it good unless I wake up tomorrow and absolutely have to fix something when I see it again (I'm looking away right now to make sure it doesn't happen):

A little thing. I drew a ton of stuff this weekend, and have so many ideas I'd like to push a little further lying all over my desktop. I tell myself I'm going to paint everything, but really, none of it's homework and I don't have time. So here's a pen n ink thing, but not Inktober. Just normal. So some brawler is going to brawl an opponent into submission and the ghost of his dead master hath appeared to guide him toward certain victory:

I have to finish my Gallery of Terror piece. My Flash assignments are killing me. I'm going in early tomorrow to sink three or four hours into my midterm, but I'd really like to work on some 3D stuff. I look at objects and take them apart in my mind, using Maya to reconstruct them into shapes. What tool would I use to get the curved edges? Where would I extrude? Would this work better to build from a single polygonal primitive, or should I start with several and combine them further down the line? I need to do that tomorrow night. I also need to re-teach myself how to UV a model. The default tools just aren't utilizing space effectively. Maybe I'll skip art history? Ugh!

A Brute

According to the ancient lore, the sword is "Cursed Blade Yankm'grer'g," which has to be one of the stupidest names ever
